Call for Papers

Healthcare providers, researchers, workplace health, safety and wellness practitioners, employers and unions are invited to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations, as well as interactive workshops. Priority will be given to proposals with an emphasis on innovative programs, policies or interventions, action-oriented research as well as practice initiatives which include tools and resources pertinent to the conference themes.

Abstract submission is encouraged particularly from those involved in collaborative workplace research. The official language of the conference is English.

Deadline for all abstract submission is April 23, 2007.
All abstracts must be submitted online.

Authors of successful submissions will be notified by May 22, 2007.
Authors of accepted entries must be available to attend the conference and be present to discuss their submission.

Deadline for submission of full papers is July 3, 2007.
Successful abstracts that are not accompanied by the submission of a full paper and a conference registration of at least one of the authors by July 1, 2007, will be removed from the program.

Conference Format

The conference will be held over 2 days and will feature plenary sessions, concurrent sessions, 3 hours workshops and poster sessions. You are asked to indicate your preferred format and topic area of your presentation with your abstract. The Program review committee reserves the right to assign presentation format (oral or poster) at the time of abstract acceptance. Conference proceedings will be posted on the website.

Oral Presentations

Oral presentations from individuals and/or groups will be given in 20-90 minute time slots with time for questions. Presentations will be grouped by the Program Review Committee into appropriate conference themes. Accepted abstracts will require submission of a full paper in the required format by July 1, 2007.


Posters

Posters will be displayed in the Exhibit Hall and offer the opportunity to showcase research findings, case studies and workplace program outcomes. Any handout materials will be the responsibility of the presenter. Accepted abstracts will require submission of a full paper in the required format by July 1, 2007.

Workshops

Workshops will be 3 hours in length and should focus on interactive sessions with participants, teaching skills as well as application of theory, policy discussion and review of tools and techniques. Topic of the workshop, learner objectives, brief content outline, target audience, and maximum number of participants must be identified in addition to an abstract in the submission.


Abstract Guidelines


Abstracts should be submitted in one of the following formats.

      Research
  • Introduction: Why was the study done?
  • Methods: What was done?
  • Results: What were the findings?
  • Discussion: What does it mean?
     
     Clinical Innovation or Practice
  • Purpose: Describe practice which needed addressing and its importance.
  • Method: Describe development of initiative and program elements
  • Conclusion: Describe practice changes, experiences, outcomes and implications.
